Amazing Tropical Fish
Tropical fish, Angel fishes are very colorful and are among the most conspicuous members of the reef community. Tropical fish, Angelfishes belong to the family POMACANTHIDAE. Some species are: Emperor Angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator), Yellowmask Angelfish (Pomacanthus Xanthometopon), Blue-girdled Angelfish (Pomacanthus navarchu), Regal Angelfish (Pygoplites diacanthus), Blue-ringed Angelfish (Pomacanthus annularis), etc.. Take a look at the beautiful aquarium. They can be easily identified by the presence of an enlarged, backward projecting spine on the check. They are also closely related to the Butterflyfishes (family CHAETODONTIDAE). More on Butterflyfishes later on the ‘Till Death Do Us Part” characteristics. There are about 85 species inhabit in tropical seas, however the majority are found in the Indian and West-central Pacific Oceans. In terms of their maximum length, it ranges from 7 to 50 cm. They are a lot of controversies regarding the various patterns displayed on the body of the Angelfishes in the scientific community. Various theories have been proposed, but none have been proved with any certainty. Well, this could be for survival purposes or purely to beautify the sea environment. Let’s appreciate what mother nature has created and enjoy their magnificent display of color rather than finding out why it is made this way.
